Born from a personal vision of aesthetics, movement and design, the Portuguese brand URZE BAREFOOT LABEL® proposes a new way of looking at barefoot footwear, bringing the foot’s natural freedom together with a contemporary, refined and distinctly aesthetic language. Founded by Alexandra out of a desire to find footwear that reflected both her visual sensibility and a more natural relationship with movement, the Portuguese brand URZE BAREFOOT LABEL® builds its creative universe at the intersection of fashion, contemporary design and cultural and musical references from different parts of the world, transforming footwear into an expression of identity. At the Portuguese brand URZE BAREFOOT LABEL®, the barefoot principle is not approached as a trend or merely a functional consideration, but as the starting point for the design of each model, respecting the natural structure of the foot and allowing form, proportion and construction to develop in dialogue with the body and movement. From this relationship emerges a minimalist, precise aesthetic with an unconventional elegance, where restraint does not mean a lack of personality and where every detail is intended to give the object a distinctive presence. The name itself reflects this connection between identity and place, drawing inspiration from urze, the Portuguese word for heather, a native plant with a discreet yet resilient presence, chosen by the brand as a symbol of rootedness, identity and quiet strength. Developed in Portugal in collaboration with skilled craftspeople, the Portuguese brand URZE BAREFOOT LABEL® combines an international, contemporary vision with the technical excellence of Portuguese craftsmanship, carefully selecting leathers and components for their quality, durability, tactile qualities and ability to age with character. The collection makes its debut with MONO, a contemporary interpretation of the classic Mary Jane, designed with a wide fit, flexible sole and zero-drop construction, and produced in strictly limited quantities. Handcrafted in Portugal, the model features leather uppers and lining, a removable insole made from a blend of fibres including linen and hemp, and a sole composed predominantly of natural rubber. Between freedom of movement, a culture of design and the Portuguese tradition of making things well, the Portuguese brand URZE BAREFOOT LABEL® presents its own interpretation of barefoot footwear, demonstrating that respecting the natural form of the body does not mean compromising on aesthetics, sophistication or personality. It is a Portuguese project that looks to the future through knowledge that Portugal has cultivated for generations, transforming craftsmanship, materials and intention into a contemporary, sensory and distinctive language of footwear.
