The Portuguese brand MEMÓRIA LUSA® was founded in 2013 by Fernanda Matias, a true devotee of Portugal—its culture and its history. Her love for this beautiful country quickly breathed life into a ceramics project draped in Portuguese motifs, produced and distributed by Gaveta da Saudade, Lda. Based in Alcobaça, a municipality with a strong ceramics tradition, the brand MEMÓRIA LUSA® draws inspiration from Portuguese culture, from the customs and ways of life of its people, from regional legends and traditions, and from the symbols of what is quintessentially Portuguese. It treasures what lingers in our collective memory—so we can return to imagined moments, marked by the intensity of what we’ve lived—re-creating, with a touch of modernity and little pieces of Portuguese identity, ceramic works with soul, memory and passion. With handmade production and hand-painting that follow traditional methods from start to finish, each MEMÓRIA LUSA® piece carries a little bit of Portugal to the four corners of the world.
