BRAND VICTÓRIA HAND MADE®
Esperança Vitória, granddaughter of Vitória Brites and daughter of Toino da Vitória and Maria Manuela, at the age of 38, said goodbye from where she worked 14 years ago to work in the traditional craft she learned since she was five. To work on what everyone said was impossible to survive, to work on reed basketry, the family’s art and tradition since 1952. And that was how the VICTÓRIA HAND MADE® brand baskets project was born, in memory of the mother of founder and in honor of the work of her father who saw this art extinguish itself between his hands day after day. For years, they experienced the devaluation that these pieces suffered, but they did not lose their desire to value the art of weaving reeds with the boldness of adding modernity so that they could continue to weave stories by their side.
