BRAND PAUPÉRIO®
BRAND PAUPÉRIO®
Valongo’s history and traditions are part of the bakery industry and its derivatives. The «regueifa» and the biscuits reached a fame that is recognized throughout Portugal. Imbued with this «Valonguense» identity linked to bread making, António de Sousa Malta Paupério and Joaquim Carlos Figueira created, in 1874, the “Paupério & Companhia” biscuit factory. Two years later, in 1876, “Paupério & Companhia” received a prize at the International Exhibition in Philadelphia, an achievement that would be repeated in the international exhibitions at the Palácio de Cristal, in 1877, and in Rio de Janeiro, in 1879. In 1974 the country celebrated freedom and the brand PAUPÉRIO®, its first centenary. Currently, the brand PAUPÉRIO® is managed by the 6th generation of the Figueira family, which maintains a line of traditional cookies with the same recipes used since its creation. Very artisanal production, with some pieces of equipment that are authentic museum pieces, has never been an obstacle to obtaining high quality products. Based on the most demanding HACCP principles, and having implemented IFS certification, the brand PAUPÉRIO® has implemented a scrupulous food safety system, associated with a demanding packaging process, which guarantees the best quality to customers and end consumers. Maintaining tradition and ensuring the production of high-quality products will always be the main objective of the brand PAUPÉRIO®.
