BRAND LIMIANO®

It all started in 1959 when Mr. Américo Tavares da Silva decided to create a delicious cheese in Ponte de Lima, uniting the strong demand for cheese in Minho with the supply of milk from the same region. At this time, the cheese was transported in wooden boxes by train or by the consumers themselves, who waited at the factory for the end of production to be able to take their favorite cheese home. This cheese would be called LIMIANO®, and over the following decades it would be appreciated from North to South of Portugal, and passed from generation to generation. In 1997, a milestone in the life of the brand LIMIANO® followed, and a caricature of the cheese was made, based on its main attributes – coarse appearance and buttery texture, being “Ugly to stop traffic”, but with a lot of interior beauty. Thus, the emblematic communication campaign “Ugly” was launched. In 1999, the brand LIMIANO® takes another historic step, and becomes the brand pioneer of pre-packaged slices, cut directly from the rough ball, which a few years later are accompanied by Thin Slices and Less 50% Fat Slices. In the 2010s the brand LIMIANO® assumes itself as part of Portuguese families, reinforcing this same positioning and presence alongside its consumers, by launching the cheese LIMIANO® Buttery Cow and Sheep in 2011, followed by the launch of the delicious cheese LIMIANO® Buttery No Shelled in 2014 and the cheese LIMIANO® Buttery Cured in 2017, cheeses to be tasted in moments of conviviality and sharing at the table with those closest to us. In 2017, the brand LIMIANO® gets even closer to Portuguese families, defending that perfection does not exist, that we all have imperfections, such as the rough LIMIANO® ball, and that this is what makes us unique and true. LIMIANO®’s mission is to inspire families to live their family more, promoting true moments of sharing and union, perfectly imperfect, such as the LIMIANO® cheese ball, rough and imperfect! Because living as a family is more than sharing a roof, it’s creating moments that unite us, just as we share a slice of LIMIANO®… because after all, even imperfect, we are all slices of the same ball!
