BRAND GRAU CERÂMICA®
GRAU CERÂMICA® is a Portuguese brand of a Lisbon based ceramic studio created in 2020 by Isac Coimbra and Diogo Ferreira with academic backgrounds in Architecture and Design / Visual Culture, respectively. In the midst of the uncertainty of these strange new times, the founders of brand GRAU CERÂMICA® left the respective companies in which they worked in and, in the face of confinement, working with clay (at home) proved to be a sort of productive therapy, and above all, an invaluable source of tranquillity. This is how the brand GRAU CERÂMICA® was born. With their four-hand production, they made a little studio at home, and took this moment as an opportunity to reinvent themselves, using curiosity and commitment as their only certainties. They transformed the isolation into a creative emancipation and turned it into concrete pieces, which have already got the brand GRAU CERÂMICA® to leave home, with orders, not only in Portugal, but all over the world. The masks and the rope mobiles were the starting point for the brand GRAU CERÂMICA®, which immediately captured the public’s attention, but the creative immersion brought out other types of elements, such as pendants, vases, jars and tableware. Each piece is handmade, from the initial kneading to the final baking, giving each one an inevitable exclusive personality. Each item is made by manual process and will feature small variations, that make it a unique and unrepeatable piece. Cooked at temperatures that reach up to 1300ºC, the pieces become waterproof and extremely resistant. GRAU CERÂMICA® materializes its pieces in different coloured stoneware clay, including black, terracotta and white, with and without glazing, combined with accessories in jute and rope, in a style that they like to call “modern tribal”, with a minimalist and geometric twist. Their work is ready to enhance interior rooms or complement outside spaces, as well as bring joy and creativity to daily life, in a practical and tangible way. In a near future, the brand GRAU CERÂMICA® intends to be able to establish new partnerships as well as attend fairs, markets, events and being in a store near you.
