GLEBA® is a word that symbolizes the close relationship that this Portuguese brand has and wants to celebrate with the land. It is a return to the origins, to the cereals cultivated in Portuguese soils, with old and sustainable varieties. The quality of bread in Portugal has been decreasing, especially in large urban centers. So the need arose to open the brand GLEBA® bakery in order to make the best bread. In Portugal, bread is not made from national and sustainable cereals. Mainly, wheat is consumed from all over the world, sold in an extremely globalized market and with an immense ecological footprint. In short, you may be buying Mafra bread, made from Ukrainian, Polish, Spanish wheat or whatever is cheaper. The prevailing factor, therefore, is price and, unfortunately, due to its dimensions, soil and climate, Portugal is not competitive in the large cereal market. However, just as in wine Portugal have many grape varieties, so in cereals Portugal is rich in variety and quality. Although it is not as productive as other countries, it can bet on products of excellence, based on a very rich tradition. This is the objective and vision of the brand GLEBA® – to produce the best bread, naturally and from the best Portuguese cereals.
