The founders of the Portuguese handcrafted shoe brand DOL® met in their cradle and one day decided to fly out of Madeira Island, where they come from. They grew up together due to the closeness of their parents, in many cycles of life they met again, and both college and motherhood brought them special moments of sharing. They exchanged dreams, many and in this exchange they discovered that one of them would be common to both. They allowed themselves to dream a little longer. The dream materialized, among dozens of researches carried out and long morning conversations, they saw a project grow that little by little gained importance. They left the island, heading north, discovered contacts, made choices, brought in their luggage a panoply of stories to savor and digest. They learned a lot about the art of footwear, fell madly in love with details and decided to make a difference. They bought pencils, similar to childhood times, and began to draw. With a professional designer and a drawing artist, they felt that the conditions for the first sketches were met. They looked around for inspiration, called the island to it. The orography of Madeira, the undulating movement of the slopes, between the mountains and the sea. The motto was set for the design of a product that had been imagined for so long. Amid laughter and laughter, the first sketches were born. Over time, the line thinned, shapes were born and shoes began to come to life. They drew on their own feet, to create harmonious proportions. When satisfaction peaked, the newly created sketches were sent to the factory. From the factory came the long-awaited form. And the prototype was born. It came up with a very funny naturalness, when sending an email. They used the surnames Drummond and Lopes, when the idea of an alliance between them arose. In fact, this alliance would eventually materialize in the symbol that today took the form of the brand DOL®. On a phonetic level, this word is strictly related to the word doll, a name with which women like to identify themselves in the beauty aspect. The existing lines in this element are based on perfect circles and their overlaps symbolize stories. The brand DOL® will always be felt and experienced as the completion of a partnership that was born a few decades ago, expressed through a project that has as much dedication as the dedication they give to their friendship!
